Often thought of as an indoor dish, garlic bread makes a wonderful accompaniment to a variety of dishes; and even on its own, garlic bread has a way of disappearing quickly!
This garlic bread recipe takes garlic bread out of the kitchen and into the back yard where it is sure to be a welcome addition to any cookout.
Ingredients -
1 loaf Italian bread, sliced lengthwise
6 cloves roasted or crushed (for a stronger flavor) garlic
1 stick butter, softened
Black pepper to taste
2 tbsp flat leaf parsley, chopped fine
Preparation:
Blend the softened butter and garlic; use roasted garlic if you’d like a mellower garlic bread or simply crush the garlic with a garlic press if you’d like a little more of an assertive garlic taste.
Brush each half of the bread with the garlic butter, sprinkle with black pepper and grill butter side up for 1-2 minutes; once the butter has melted into the bread, turn over and grill butter side down for an additional 1-2 minutes, then turn over, top then with the chopped parsley and grill for another 30 seconds or so.
Cut each half of the loaf into halves serve while hot and watch it disappear!
Garlic bread is far too good to be left indoors in the summer!
