How Do You Barbeque Corn?

Grilling corn on the cob is incredibly easy, tasty, and impressive looking. Your guests will love the great taste of grilled sweet corn. This is one of the best and easiest methods for cooking this versatile vegetable, and it can be done while you are making other dishes on the grill. There are two basic methods for doing it - in foil and out of foil. We will take a look at both, and you can choose the one that works for you. If you have been asking: "How do you barbecue corn?" this is the article for you.

Grilling Corn on the Cob in Foil

One method for cooking corn on the grill is wrapping it. This can be done with ordinary aluminum foil, or you can just leave it in its husk. If you choose to wrap the corn in its own husk, be sure to wet it down thoroughly to prevent fires and keep the corn from drying out. If you bake the corn on the grill in foil, you will want to put butter, herbs, and other seasonings in the packet to improve moisture and flavor.

Remember to turn the packet periodically, and that it will be done sooner than you think. The only problem is that you will not get the grill marks and charring that makes cooking corn on the cob on the grill so special. To do that, you will have to grill your corn without a wrapper.

Grilling Corn on the Cob without Foil

Placing the corn directly on the rack over high heat will allow it to catch a little flame and get that great grilled flavor. You will want to get your fire going high, and peel the silk and husk from the corn. The husks can be used for presentation when serving if you choose, but toss the silk. Drizzle your corn with your favorite oil, and place it directly onto the grill grate over the heat.

Grill about ten minutes, rotating as required to keep the corn from excessive charring or uneven cooking. You want to slightly blacken some kernels, but not all of them. Do not overcook your corn, or it will be soft and mushy. The cob should not flex easily. Once the corn is done, take it off the grill and season with salt and pepper. Butter, garlic butter, and herb seasonings are also popular, and some like to toss on a little seafood seasoning for that just out of the crab boil flavor. There are so many things you can do with this versatile veggie!
