How to Make a Charcoal Grill
Building a charcoal grill is not especially complicated and custom-built grills have been popular since the 1950s before mass produced grills took over the market. You will need a well-ventilated place for your grill and a cooking grate for the food to go on.
The body of the grill can be made from bricks, concrete blocks, or metal sheets and this kind of grill is easy enough to build in one afternoon. A friend to help and a six-pack of beer can make the actual building more fun!
Plans for Building a Charcoal Grill
Before you start designing your plans to build a charcoal grill, there are a few things you need to consider:
- What do you want your grill to look like? It is a good idea to design something that will blend in with the surroundings and look good next to the house.
- Your grill should be away from other structures to avoid the risk of fire spreading.
- A well-designed grill should be for more than just grilling. You can add on shelves and storage areas as well as places to hang utensils and store the items you will need when grilling.
- Your barbeque should be easy to clean and repair if need be. You will not want to have to cut through bricks to replace a part.
- A good grill lasts for a long time and should be weatherproof. Build your barbeque well to withstand the elements.
